Each and every one of our Chihuahua Dreams Chihuahuas are either sired by Champion Show Dogs, or have pedigrees filled with top champion bloodlines. Not only will you get a gorgeous puppy, but a gorgeous adult as well. I am Lauren Jaime, owner of Chihuahua Dreams. This page is dedicated to letting you know about me and how I breed, raise, and take great care of my Chihuahuas. We have around 6-8 litters of chihuahua puppies for sale per yer and strive for the highest quality over quantity. See even more information on Chihuahua Dreams.
My chihuahuas eat Royal Canin and I do not have any health issues with them. I believe a high quality food makes a huge difference in the health, energy and coat of a chihuahua. I would recommend Royal Canin to any dog owner. I do “free feed” all of my chihuahuas, meaning they can eat whenever they choose to at any time, day or night. Please feel free to email or call with any questions. I feel my puppies deserve to be met in person by a chihuahua lover who takes the time out to come and meet them, but I do understand that this is not always possible. A chihuahua is the best friend you will ever have. I can’t wait for you to meet our beautiful babies.
Make sure your pet’s vaccinations are up to date or check if any are due for a booster soon. Find out which are urgent and which can be postponed by calling your vet. Occasionally give them a basic physical once-over (ears, eyes, mouth, teeth, coat, etc) and ensure that they’re eating well and are generally active. Keep in touch with your vet over the phone, and call them if you see any symptoms of sickness. Most pet owners can assess the urgency of a condition via video consultation. A pet care tip during lockdown would be to keep a list handy of nearby veterinary clinics that are open, (along with their contact information) in case of an emergency.
Ears come in all kinds, because they can naturally take different shapes and sizes, especially if humans do not touch them. You can therefore observe short or long ears, straight or drooping ears, flexible or rather stiff. The amazing thing is that they are all mobile! Yes they move even when you don’t realize it. Its ears are therefore equipped with a minimum of 18 muscles per ear which allows it to control and move them in a more or less nuanced way. But the exact number of muscles will depend on the breed of your dog as some have around 100 muscles per ear. Which is why your dog can hear much better than you! Dogs with erect ears can hear better because their cone-shaped ears help focus sound waves. In all cases, dogs move their ears to facilitate hearing. Have you ever seen your dog “prick up” its ears when it heard a sudden sound? Have you ever seen your dog’s ears move like a periscope following the direction of sound without needing to move its head?
Grooming is another essential aspect of dog parenthood. A healthy dog should be free from fleas and ticks, which is why you need to make sure your pup gets regular baths and grooming. Dogs with long fur and thick coats need frequent brushing and to always be checked for fleas, especially on warm weather. Should fleas appear, consult your vet for treatment solutions immediately. During cold weather, mats and ice balls can form beneath the paws so hair needs to be trimmed also. When carrying a puppy or a small dog, place one hand under the chest and support the hind legs or the rump with your other hand. Do the same when you have to lift a large dog.
Each breeding is carefully planned with the right sire and dam that we feel will produce the best quality puppies (both temperament and looks). I raise my chihuahuas indoors and they are potty pad trained from the time they are weaned at 5 weeks until they go to their new homes. The babies are held and loved on a daily basis from the moment that they are born (as well as in their mamas tummies!). Socialization is so important early on and makes a life long difference in the overall temperament of the dog. Discover additional info at Teacup Chihuahua Breeder.
