Sports Injuries: The intensity, repetitiveness and frequency of sport can leave patients vulnerable to injury. We have wide range of knowledge on most sporting injury presentations. Prompt intervention is key. Advice can be invaluable to prevent a delay on recovery or on relevant investigation we deem necessary. In order to prevent reoccurrence all parameters of fitness need to be addresses mainly flexibility, strength, balance, endurance and propulsion. Our physios endeavour to retrain all these aspects. Common injuries that present include: Joint impingements, groin injury, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, ankle sprain, knee ligament/meniscal injury, dead leg/haematoma and tendon injury.

What people say? The team at Leyland Physio are outstanding ! They are completely focussed on patient care, extremely professional and lovely people too. I attend regularly for acupuncture for a long term condition which helps enormously. You will receive first class treatment from highly skilled Physio’s and a very warm welcome from all at this brilliant practice. I have recommended to family and friends who all have had the same positive experience I have had.

Manual Therapy: At Leyland Physiotherapy we focus on providing ‘hands-on’ therapy as we find this beneficial in reducing myofascial and joint restrictions, thereby helping to restore normal movement patterns. Techniques include massage, myofascial release, mobilisations, manipulation and taping for movement facilitation. Electrotherapy: Electrotherapy is a form of medical treatment which uses small electrical impulses applied to the affected area of the body. This accelerates tissue repair, reduces swelling and pain, and stimulates nerves and muscles, We have state of the art equipment on site including Laser, interferential, ultrasound, shockwave and electroacupuncture. It is thought that the shockwaves activate C nerve fibres which release a specific substance (substance P) in the tissue and in the spinal cord. This substance is responsible for the slight discomfort during and after shockwave treatment. However, with prolonged activation, C fibres become incapable for some time of releasing substance P. Less Substance P in tissue, means less pain for the patient! NICE guidance 2009 recommends Shockwave for the treatment of chronic tendon injuries especially Achilles ,Tennis elbow and Plantar Fasciitis. We are one of the few private physiotherapy clinics in Lancashire able to offer this specialist therapy .Very competitively priced at only £65 per session, this is an amazing treatment… DON’T SUFFER any longer.
